Mares has incorporated cutting-edge features of modern regulator technology into the 28XR-HR underwater regulator. The first stage employs the innovative balanced diaphragm concept, driven by a dual piston. All of this is environmentally protected through AST - Auto Sealing Technology, ensuring impeccable sealing against potential sand or particle ingress, which is particularly crucial in cave diving or polluted waters. This feature holds true, especially for technical diving, allowing for in-water removal without flooding.

The swiveling turret boasts a vertical low-pressure outlet along with four additional low-pressure outlets, making it adaptable for all setups. Its adaptability extends to use on double tanks, stage configurations, and side-mount setups.

The second stage, featuring a technopolymer body, is uncomplicated and extremely lightweight while delivering outstanding performance. A substantial side knob enables effortless breathing force adjustment, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The second stage can be set to a "hard" configuration when not in use, which can then be adjusted to a "softer" setting during use.
